The recommendations of 6th pay commission will increase the salary of around 5.4 million central government employees. The revised pay scale would be effective from 01/01/2006.The revised hike will hit central budget of FY09 to the tune of 15,717 crore and Railway Budget by 6414 crore. The average hike for central government is around 21%.The sixth Pay Commission pay hike will be paid in cash in two installments- 40% will be paid in FY 2008-2009 and 60% in next financial year.
