The bank’s Jan-Mar 2007-08 results trailed the brokerage estimates with a decline in net interest income and a sharp increase in provisioning expenses. Margin contraction (owing to an inflated cost of deposits) coupled with a lower yield on investments led to an 8.8 per cent decline in net interest income.
