Hopefully you noticed that I didn’t sensationalize the issue by writing something like Sachin vs. Pepsi. (For those not aware of the situation, Pepsi India has not renewed the contract with Sachin Tendulkar as one of its brand ambassadors. Sachin Tendulkar is arguably the best batsman world cricket has seen, as adjudged by experts everywhere)
There is a very interesting article in Economic Times with a view and counter view on this dis-engagement. I believe both the authors are too attached to the scene (I think Cheil handles Pepsi’s account, and World Sport Group manages Sachin’s marketing partnerships), but they do make some good points:
